Ambassador Segun Alabi Urges Security Deployment to Boost Nigerias Agricultural Sector

Davidorlah Farms is proud to spotlight the recent call by our Managing Director and renowned agricultural expert, Ambassador Segun Alabi, for the Federal Government to deploy security personnel to farming communities across Nigeria.

Speaking during a media interaction with the House of Representatives Press Corps in Abuja, Ambassador Alabi emphasised the urgent need for protecting farmers to unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s vast arable land, favourable climate, and abundant labour force.

“Insecurity has continued to discourage farmers from cultivating land, thus hindering agriculture’s contribution to addressing unemployment and promoting sustainable economic growth,” Alabi stated. “Agriculture remains the cornerstone of Nigeria’s economy, contributing an average of 24% to GDP and employing over 36% of the labour force. Strengthening this sector will diversify our economy, reduce dependence on oil, and improve employment, food security, and foreign exchange earnings.”

Ambassador Alabi further highlighted agriculture’s role in renewable energy, noting that converting agricultural outputs into clean energy could mitigate global warming and promote environmental sustainability.

He called for strategic investments and supportive policies to enhance local production and reduce import dependency. “Virtually everything being imported into the country can be produced locally,” Alabi asserted.

At Davidorlah Farms, we remain committed to transforming Nigeria’s agricultural landscape, fostering food security, economic growth, and environmental resilience.
